Feedback is not only used in an educational setting but at workplace too. The story below will show how to properly target each principle (Activation, Demonstration, Application and Integration) which is based on Merrill’s first principle model of instruction, for effective learning.
Scenario
Better Future is an employment centre located in Toronto. Each year the President (John Smith) of Better Future distributes a survey to his front line staff to determine what is going well, what could be changed and what other resources can be provided for staff advancement. This year majority of the staff identified providing feedback to clients as an issue and asked for some training around giving feedback to clients. As per the staff’s request, management organized full day of staff training which was conducted by a well qualified professional trainer.
